Mandela Day is about doing something for the less fortunate, in recognition of the way Nelson Mandela fought social injustice for 67 years.

In this spirit, staff and students from Monash South Africa (MSA) gave back to the community by volunteering at the Emthonjeni community centre in Zandspruit.

The MSA volunteers took to cleaning and gardening as part of the activities for the day.

MSA Community Engagement Manger Craig Rowe  said Mandela Day has always been a special day for MSA.

“This only just the beginning. We are going to encourage more of our staff to come and take part in our projects so we can take our partnership with the Zandspruit community to a new level.”
