MSA Alumni

The Independent Institute of Education (Pty) Ltd (The IIE) became the owner of the former Monash South Africa (MSA) campus in April 2019. The IIE is responsible as part of the purchase agreement for phasing out the MSA qualifications. The campus now operates as ‘IIE MSA’, a brand of The IIE.

Students who were enrolled by the census date of 30 March 2019 receive an award for the course for which they registered if they completed the course by the expiry date. The expiry dates differ for each course, the last date being 2025.

The certificate for the MSA qualification is issued in the name of Monash South Africa by The IIE. This is authorised by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa. Some MSA courses were offered in cooperation with Monash University. These courses led to a certificate issued by MSA and a second certificate was issued by Monash University.

Verification of qualification

The Independent Institute of Education (Pty) Ltd (The IIE) is the institute of record and ongoing authority in South Africa for verifying Monash South Africa (MSA) awards.

MSA is recorded with the Department of Higher Education and Training of South Africa (DHET) for the purpose of ensuring MSA qualifications continue to be recognised within South Africa.

Graduates can verify an MSA qualification by logging a ticket via the IIE MSA Student Hub.

Prospective employers should consult The IIE Accreditation and Registration web page for information on how they can verify an MSA qualification.

Monash University provides qualification verification to graduates who hold Monash University awards.

Monash University awards can be verified using the qualification verification website.

Students who graduated after 1 January 2017 can also access their Monash University qualification via the Monash My eQuals online system.

Graduates who need to present their qualification to a government department in South Africa should present only their MSA award certificate (i.e., not their Monash University award certificate (testamur)) because the MSA Award is the accredited degree within the South African national system.
