We have a variety of competitive, high achieving sports teams for you to join, including rugby, soccer, netball, volleyball and basketball. Our teams compete in a number of events and leagues, such as Wits Interfaculty Rugby, the Rand Central and USSA Soccer Leagues and the Gauteng University Basketball League.
We participate in various intervarsity tournaments, such as the annual Midrand Graduate Institute for Intervarsity Sports Tournaments (MGI Clash), which the former MSA campus dominated in 2016, winning almost every event.
IIE MSA netball star Okwethukwanele Zwane was selected to play for the Gauteng under 21 SA Championship team. Zwane played goal shooter for the provincial team and got to travel to cities all over South Africa as part of a championship team.
IIE MSA martial artist Jacobus Duminy was selected for the South African karate team after placing first in the USSA competitions. Duminy represented South Africa at the FISU World Championships, where he placed ninth in the world. He has also fought in the WKF World Karate Championships in Australia.
