Local entry requirements

You can apply online through our Online Admission system which will guide you through the application process step-by-step.

You can apply offline through a paper-based application process. Download the application form, print it and complete all the necessary fields. We advise that you keep a copy of your application for your own records. Once you have completed the form you need to submit it, along with your supporting documentation, in one of these ways:

*Be sure to ask for a receipt so that you have a record of when you sent it. Allow for 2-3 weeks for a postal application to be received.

Students are selected based on academic merit. To be eligible for an undergraduate degree, you must have completed the South African.

If you would like to study at IIE MSA, you must be at least 17 years old or older when you enrol and you must have made an application to study when you were 16 years old.

South African National Senior Certificate (NSC)

The South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) issued with a minimum of 50-59 percent (a score of four), who have completed the following subject requirements (as publicised by UMALUSI – the council for quality assurance in general and further education and training):

  • One Home and another language (at first additional level)*
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
  • Life Orientation
  • Three subjects selected from Group B – agriculture; culture and arts; business, commerce and management studies; official languages at second additional level and non-official languages; engineering and technology; human and social studies; physical, mathematical, computer and life sciences; services.

Additionally you must achieve:

  • at least 40% in three subjects, one of which is an official home language

* Two (2) official languages selected from Group A: one is offered at Home Language Level, and the other, at either Home or First Additional Language Level. One of the two languages must be the language of learning and teaching (LOLT) at the school/institution that the candidate has attended.

How to calculate your score

  • Total results in the best 6 subjects excluding Life Orientation.
  • Bonus points (to a maximum of 2 points) for the following subject scores:
    • English Home Language achievement of Level 6 or above = +1
    • Mathematics achievement of Level 6 or above = +1
    • Mathematical Literacy achievement of Level 6 or above = +1

** Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted. South African students must have achieved a minimum of 4 in Mathematics in order to major in Accounting in the Bachelor of Business Science and continue studying towards registration as a Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
***Mathematics Literature will only be accepted if an applicant has obtained 75% or more.
