Speaking to the IIE MSA MBA cohort, Ian advised that one of the only ways to remain competitive is to continuously challenge our business models with disruptive thinking. In a Volatile VUCA world, our business model canvases may need to even be turned upside down.

The students were particularly impressed with the insights into the practical aspects of strategy, with real-life lessons drawn from Ian’s knowledge of the corporate environment. Having also worked in the Marketing field, Ian was also able to address questions that arose about different strategies in different sectors.

“Looking at Systems Thinking & the latest definitions of Strategy are great places to start. And because an MBA is a “system” of many subjects, we need to understand how these many disciplines can be best applied to the workplace.” Ian said
