The IIE Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree will qualify its graduates to work in a variety of sectors and organisations. Graduates will be equipped with advanced written and spoken skills, conceptual and critical thinking skills, as well as general communication skills valued by all employers and needed in all organisations.

The IIE BA degree is a three-year degree. The academic year runs from February to November. The modules are delivered on a full-time basis with lectures being scheduled during the day from Monday to Friday.

Successful completion of this programme leads to an IIE qualification.

The three study areas offered through this degree allow the option of linking your qualification in Arts with an organisational, teaching or counselling career pathways. Within the twenty-first century context of mass access to knowledge, coupled with the increased acknowledgement of mental health challenges, the degree is ideally suited for the student who wants to make an impact in diverse settings. Alternate Admission

NSC: (English 50%-59%). If achieved 60% min in final Grade 11 results.

Should the English requirement not be met at NSC Grade 12, then entrance may be granted if the English requirement is met based on the Grade 11 final English mark.

International Students

An USAf Exemption Certificate with 60% or equivalent for English.

A cognate Higher Certificate OR cognate 240 credit Diploma OR an Advanced Certificate OR 360 credit Diploma or Degree may satisfy the minimum admission requirements to degree studies.

If discipline not cognate at least 20% of credits must be academic literacy or numeracy related

What is Bachelor of Arts?

The IIE Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree is a broad-based Arts degree that focusses on ‘the art of learning’. The IIE BA degree provides students with a choice of two of the following three core disciplines namely: English, Psychology and Communication Science. In their second year, students studying this BA degree will need to select two of the core disciplines, and these two subject areas will be the focus of the students’ second and third year of study. The subject combinations on offer are:

  • English and Communication Science, or
  • English and Psychology, or
  • Communication Science and Psychology.
