Why study Change Management?

As humans, we have a natural tendency to fear the unknown which often results in resistance to change. In a state of resistance, employees will find it difficult to let go of the old and fully embrace the new. Thus, the numerous advantages of a more effective, efficient and updated workspace can be compromised if the human side of change is not carefully considered and managed.

Getting organisational change initiatives right can be extremely challenging: 60% of big, structural changes end in failure and consequent losses in revenue, productivity and competitiveness. Evidence suggests that employees feel the stress of change initiatives directly and change-stressed employees perform 5% worse than the average employee. By focussing on change management, employees are assisted in managing the human side of change business.

Specific learning outcomes of this short learning programme are to:

  • Follow the  steps necessary for preparing a change strategy and building support for the change
  • Understand the individual motivators for change and the impact on business
  • Develop a change management and communications plan and  implement these strategies
  • Employ strategies for gathering data, addressing concerns and issues, evaluating options and adapting a change direction
  • Utilise methods for leading change project status meetings, celebrating a successful change implementation and sharing the results and benefits
  • Use the four states of appreciative inquiry, its purposes and sample uses in case studies, as related to change management
  • Use strategies for aligning people with a change, appealing to emotions and facts
  • Appreciate the importance of resiliency and flexibility in the context of change

Who should attend

The Change Management workshop will give any leader tools to implement changes more smoothly and to have those changes better accepted within companies. This workshop will also give all participants an understanding of how change is implemented and provide them with some tools for managing change. Leaders are also equipped to manage any resistance experienced during a change process.
