Michelle Vermeulen was an Associate Director in Auditing at PwC until 2010. In 2011 she joined Murray and Roberts Construction as the Head of Finance of their Engineering Division. In 2013 she started lecturing Taxation at The University of Johannesburg on a part-time basis.
She joined the institution in 2015 and is currently the Programme Manager for Undergraduate Studies in the School of Finance and Accounting. Michelle holds a Master’s degree in Financial Accounting from the Rand Afrikaans University, for which she completed a three-year dissertation on The Valuation of Intangible Assets. Michelle achieved the seventh position in her final countrywide examination for admission to The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (The 2002 Public Practice Examination).
She has always been passionate about all things academic and hopes to transfer some of her enthusiasm to her students. Michelle lectures Corporate Governance and Auditing to third year students on the Chartered Accountancy pathway. She received the “Academic of the Year” award for 2017 and 2018.
