Why Study Journalism?

Humans have been telling stories and sharing information since the dawn of time. In Journalism Studies, we teach how to share important information with the world on radio, TV and on the internet, from a platform of expertise that has been built over many years in the industry.

We teach the basic principles of journalism as a specialisation within a three-year IIE Bachelor of Social Science degree, offered at IIE MSA. In the first year you will learn to write, record and publish on different platforms. As your studies continue into the second year, the legal fundamentals of journalism, online journalism and video journalism become the focus of your studies. In the third year you can specialise even more, with modules offered in investigative journalism, business journalism and sports journalism. The top students also get an opportunity to do a placement in the industry and gain invaluable work experience while earning credits towards their degree.

To study Journalism you can enrol for the IIE Bachelor of Social Science degree with a study area in Journalism, offered at IIE MSA.

Once you have completed your Bachelor’s degree, you can continue with an IIE Honours degree and then the IIE Master’s degree in Social Science, with specialisation in Communication, both offered at IIE MSA.
