About IIE MSA

IIE MSA, formerly known as Monash South Africa, was founded in 2001 by Monash University. Since April 2019 we are part of The Independent Institution of Education (The IIE), a leader in the higher education sphere. The IIE is internationally recognised by the British Accreditation Council. IIE MSA is located on a 100-hectare campus in Ruimsig, Johannesburg, in the province of Gauteng. In addition to domestic (South African) students, IIE MSA is home to diverse cultures of students from different African countries.

The Opportunity

IIE MSA is seeking an outstanding Independent Contractor in the field of Statistics/Quantitative Techniques to teach the below modules on the said qualifications:

QUAT5112Quantitative Techniques AIIE Bachelor of Accounting
QUAT6221Quantitative TechniquesIIE BCom in Economics
BSTA6212Business StatisticsIIE BCom in Economics

Key Areas:

  • QUAT5112 – This module covers the basic concepts and principles of Statistics. The application of key statistical concepts and techniques are explained.
  • QUAT6221 – This module covers the basic concepts and principles of Statistics. The application of key statistical concepts and techniques are explained.
  • BSTA6212 – The purpose of this module is to provide students with the theoretical and practical aspects of data analysis. This module will enable students to perform basic analysis of raw data and present their findings. Students will also learn to critically evaluate data analysis presented to them. And to make use of computer spreadsheets to solve statistical problems.

Education and Work Experience

Ideal candidates for QUAT5112:

  • Any Honours degree with Statistics/ Mathematics up to the third-year level.

Alternatively:

  • Honours in one of the Business-related fields (e.g. economics, entrepreneurship, risk, supply chain or project management) – with Statistics/ Mathematics to a third-year level.
  • Bachelor’s degree with Statistics/ Mathematics or a similarly related field (e.g. entrepreneurship, risk, supply chain or project management) to the third-year level PLUS either an MBA or a postgraduate diploma in business or education.
  • Work experience: Lecturing experience in Statistics/Mathematics, Work experience as a statistician (e.g. STATSSA)/in a business-related field or Quantitative research with a strong emphasis on statistics.

  • Any Honours degree with Statistics/Econometrics to a third-year level.

Alternatively:

  • Honours in one of the Business-related fields (e.g. economics, entrepreneurship, risk, supply chain or project management) – with Statistics/ Econometrics to a third-year level.
  • Bachelor’s degree with Statistics/ Mathematics or a similarly related field (e.g. entrepreneurship, risk, supply chain or project management) to the third-year level PLUS either an MBA or a postgraduate diploma in business or education.
  • Work experience: Lecturing experience in Statistics/Mathematics, Work experience as a statistician (e.g. STATSSA)/in a business-related field or Quantitative research with a strong emphasis on statistics.

Ideal candidates for BSTA6212:

  • Any Honours degree with Statistics/ Mathematics up to the third-year level.

Alternatively:

  • Honours in one of the Business-related fields (e.g. economics or finance) – with Statistics/ Mathematics to a third-year level.
  • Bachelor’s degree with Statistics/ Mathematics or a similarly related field (e.g. economics, risk, or finance) to the third-year level PLUS either an MBA or a postgraduate diploma in business or education.
  • Work experience: Lecturing experience in Statistics/Mathematics, Work experience as a statistician (e.g. STATSSA)/in a business-related field or Quantitative research with a strong emphasis on statistics.
