 This module provides the student with the opportunity to conduct fieldwork, analyse data and report on the results. Sessions with a supervisor will assist the student to delineate an area of study, propose a research problem, and to propose the method of study.


  • Design a realistic fieldwork plan with timelines
  • Continue with data gathering and data management
  • Organise and analyse data
  • Report on results through a final research report
  • Summarise the study towards a possible publication
  • Provide feedback on whether ethical requirements were met


Within semester/Formative assessment: 30%
Examination/Summative assessment: 70%

Workload requirements

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this module is 150 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. The module requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
