The IIE Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Accounting (PGDFA) is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE)
and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF)
as a 120-credit qualification on level 8 (SAQA ID: 102208).
The IIE Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Accounting (PGDFA) is aimed at students who are promising in terms of
intellectual vitality, demonstrated leadership potential, personal qualities and contributions. Students will be drawn
from all financial and management sectors.
Typical students would have an appropriate bachelor degree or an appropriate Advanced Diploma or similar
qualification on level 7 on the National Qualifications framework.
The IIE Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Accounting (PGDFA) is a one-year programme. The academic year runs from
February to November. The modules are delivered on a full-time basis with lectures and tutorials being scheduled
during the day from Monday to Friday. If registration numbers allow, the programme may be offered on a part-time
basis over a two-year period.
Please note that in line with academic practice, The IIE’s curriculum is reviewed annually thus changes may
occur in module structure and sequence in order to ensure that the qualification remains relevant. The exit level
outcomes of the programme do not change. Registered students receive an updated programme curriculum on an annual
The IIE Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Accounting can be completed in 1-year full-time, or 2-years on a
part-time basis. The academic year runs from February to November.
As far as possible timetabling is designed to accommodate student needs, but timetables remain subject to change
throughout the year. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that timetable structures will remain the same during the
course of your studies. Class attendance is compulsory.
In order to be awarded this qualification, you must have achieved a minimum final year mark of fifty percent (50%)
for each module of the programme.
Full time students have a maximum of 2 years to complete this qualification. A part-time programme may be offered
subject to a minimum of 15 registered students. In such an instance, the programme will be presented over 2 years with
a maximum completion time of 4 years.
