WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL STUDIES?

Studying international relations could lead to an exciting career involving resolving conflicts between countries or improving diplomatic relations.

International studies (or international relations) involves the study of the global community. It takes a look at how societies and countries interact with one another. Students will look at the political, social and economic issues dominating the global agenda. Subjects like politics, law and economics will be examined on a global level.

Why study International Studies?

If you are particularly interested in the countries of the world and the roles they play on the global stage, you should consider studying International Affairs. Your degree will give you an in-depth understanding of world affairs as well as insight into world cultures and politics. You will take a look at interesting topics including the philosophy of war and the global politics of arms control and disarmament.

Those who pursue international studies will develop skills in diplomacy and foreign policy. This will prepare students for many interesting International Studies careers including a foreign affairs analyst, diplomat, economist, demographer or foreign service officer. Many International Studies students go on to pursue job opportunities in politics and economics.
